Join the Random Acts of Kindness Movement

Don’t you think the world is ready for Random Acts of Kindness? There is an organization called randomactsofkindness.org that is doing just that. On the website, they state that everyone has the potential to change the world. It’s about getting involved even if it is with one other person. The term is RAKtivist® and they are the heroes in our world. All of us can be part of this movement. Did you know that there is a science of kindness?

When you are kind to others, you are building up your compassion muscle. Everything you do for others comes back to you. There are positive effects of kindness that you experience in your brain and everyone who witnesses the act of kindness. It improves your mood and makes it significantly more likely that you or the person you are kind to will “pay it forward.â€

I’m in! Our world needs the kindness movement more than ever. I joined the movement and found so many resources about kindness. You can join the #CaptureKindness challenge that started November 13th and goes for 14 weeks until February 17th, 2018.

Just use the #CaptureKindness hashtag to follow the weekly challenges.

So for this week’s challenge, this is what I’ve done so far:

  • I sent an encouraging email to a friend who is having difficult times.
  • I shared a happy video on social media.
  • I donated to a charity on Facebook.
  • I endorsed a skill on LinkedIn for someone I admire.

I am so grateful for my family and friends. Unfortunately, I got a cold so I’ve been going slow this week. Even if I’m sneezing and coughing, I’m spending time going through the amazing lesson plans available on the site. They have detailed lessons for each grade level around specific topics appropriate for the ages. Here’s a screenshot of Grade 6 lesson plans.

There are not only lesson plans for K-12, but downloadable posters, an Educator Guide, games, books, and activities, and much more.

Check out randomactsofkindness.org, follow #CaptureKindness, take the challenge, and become a RAKtivist.

Every day is a gift, that’s why it is called the “present.â€
Make every moment a learning experience.
